As healthcare becomes more and more a global concern, it is important that administrators of healthcare facilities, policy entities, and research programs are globally aware and posses the knowledge to influence others to behave in a holistic manner. Earning a degree from a respectable, quality institution is the first step. We reviewed universities and colleges with Healthcare Administration Departments to find the most reputable, innovative and transformational departments in the United States. Our criteria for this list include the following: Departments all have at least a Master’s in Health Administration program accredited by the CAHME (Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education). This indicates a higher level of quality and demonstrates that the Department seeks constant development and improvement. Departments have a variety of degrees to meet the individual needs to those interested in administration. Departments have active student associations and alumni programs providing professional development and networking opportunities. Departments listed have faculty that are engaged in research in the field. Portland State University offers four different master’s programs for those seeking to further their education in public policy related to health care. Portland State University has extensive community partnerships developed with health service providers. Students are able to take coursework across various departments to ensure their interests are met and their education is holistic. Faculty have professional backgrounds in health leadership positions and management. Located close to Washington DC, George Mason University is world renowned for its influence in the global space related to Health Administration and Policy. The Department offers graduate and undergraduate programs in areas such as healthcare administration, health informatics, health policy and senior housing administration. The Senior Housing Administration is a unique program for students interested in working in senior living facilities, group homes, or retirement communities.
